The Master of Science in Computer Science is designed for students seeking advanced research and development positions in business and industry.
Program Objectives
This degree is designed for the student who has completed a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or in a closely related field. Enrolling students should have a strong background in computer science, be self-motivated and interesting in learning through a distance education program, and capable of working with less direct supervision. The objectives of the Master of Science in Computer Science program are to:
- Provide the student with the tools necessary to find and formulate problems, think analytically, and recommend solutions to problems.
- Provide the student a broad intellectual base, well-developed interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills, and a mastery of the appropriate elements of the discipline of computer science.
- Provide an in-depth treatment of theoretical foundations and formal methods in computer science, through a balanced treatment of theory, abstraction, design, and the social professional context for the discipline.
- Provide a foundation for lifelong learning through professional development, research and/or further graduate study.
